Skill Ranks
From InquisitionWiki
The term rank is used to define your relative competence within a given ability. The higher your skill in an ability becomes, the greater your rank is - ranging from incapable (just barely knowing the skill) to grandmaster.
Within the rank structure, you have a percentage listing how close you are to attaining the next higher rank. As you gain several ranks, the word describing your overall proficiency with the skill will change. The higher your rank, the better you are at that skill. Rank breakdown is as follows:
- 1-7 Inept
- 20-23 Proficient
- 8-11 Unskilled
- 24-40 Adept
- 12-15 Capable
- 41-60 Master
- 16-19 Competent
- 61+ GrandMaster
It is important to note that even if you are at the final rank (grandmaster), you can still improve the ability. The higher your ability becomes, the greater the amount of experience necessary to improve it to the next subsequent rank.
The higher your rank, the more XP it costs to raise to the next rank. The first rank in any skill costs 1100, and each additional rank costs 100 XP. Adept ranks cost an additional 100 XP, Master ranks cost 100 XP on top of that, and Grandmaster ranks cost yet another 100 XP. For example, to raise from rank 12 to 13 would cost you 100 XP. To raise from 42 to 43, however, would cost 300 XP.
