MUD Overview
From InquisitionWiki
This help file is a 'quick start' to game play on The Inquisition. There is a lot to learn to know this game inside and out, but no one needs to know the game that well to play it. We have over 1,000 help files, and it's simply not possible to enter the game knowing everything.
All of the important information for play is available in the New Player zone that you begin the game in. However, new players have told us it is important not to get caught up in reading every last thing. We suggest you read at the very least the descriptions in the beginning rooms (they will tell you what you what the key points you'll eventually need to learn are as well as give you instructions for setting up your character for game play). There are only six rooms in this whole zone, and it is well worth the read.
If you're the impatient sort there are only three cardinal rules:
- Magic and heresy are reviled by "good" people as the taint of evil, and people are highly superstitious. Magic is the explanation for anything unusual from personal appearance to sheer happenstance.
- The Holy Order and those who act on its authority are "good" and enjoy the support of the world's populace. People are grateful for their protection and mages, due to their use of magic, face the same social stigma as serial killers. This reputation is not without reason.
- The same rules that apply to real life apply here. Stealing and murder, for example, are against the law. Consequences exist for all your actions, and you are always IC.
Follow these rules and you should be safe while you explore the game and role-play. Other than that, welcome to The Inquisition!
