inspire [ability]
Inspiration increases your knowledge pool which will eventually lead to increase in ranks for a specified ability. It is the most common way to raise a skill, followed by someone teaching your character.
Type inspire <ability name> to inspire an ability. Some things to note: 1) don't inspire if you do not have free xp; 2) don't inspire if you don't have the prerequisites for that ability (type ab <ability name>); and 3) some abilities cannot be inspired (you will be told so if you try).
Think of inspiration as deductive reasoning: your character determines a logic-leap in application of that ability, and gains from it.
Inspiration is gained from RPing with others: the greater the difference in 'views' between you and them (experience is mostly used for this, although other factors are considered), the greater the gain. Much like two people with opposing viewpoints on a subject benefit from learning the other's opinions.
Typing inspire will show you a description of how much inspiration you have. In order, they are:
Almost none, Very little, A little, Some, A decent amount, Considerable, A lot, A great deal, A staggering amount
It will also show you what abilities are being inspired and when you can use inspire again. (Inspire can be used 1x per IC day per skill, or every 6 hours)
Inspiration amount saves over logoffs. There is no detrimental effect to not using inspiration, but there is a cap on how much you can have at any given time.
