New Appointments in the Holy Order

(February 12, 2008)

Morning services were brief today, with Mother Stoddard announcing that though things had calmed to the south, evil still lurks in Lithmore city.

She also announced the arrival of new weapons against the taint of witchcraft, namely in the form of the newly appointed Archbishop of Inbican, Temperance Novak. Recognition was offered to Elisia Davinroot, who had been accepted into the medical courses at the University.

Riding on the tail of these announcements was the claim that she had been offered, and had accepted the position of Grand Inquisitor, though no explanation for the change was given and the people were dismissed.

What rumors spring from this cannot, of course, be confirmed by any of the acolytes.

Lithmore Moves on Farin

(February 7, 2008)

For several weeks the armies of Lithmore had been growing and gathering, every day a new Lord, knight or company of soldiers arrived. Scouts came back and forth on a near constant basis, reporting on news from further south: some of it heartening, but mostly grim.

Reports of death, of whole villages being cleared and taken to Lord-knows-where, as slaves, some said. As sacrifices whispered others. By the time they were ready to march out under the banners of Lithmore, the army of the Realm numbered over ten thousand men, mostly Lithmorrans, but with a healthy contingent of Vandagans and a large number of Farinmen eager to reclaim their homes.

South they marched, into Farin and into Daravi forces that were scattered and surprisingly thin on the ground. On their way, the banners of the northeastern baronies rallied behind them: Vorseethe, Malinis, Ten-Buray and Cort. From there, they swept west and south-west, punching into and through the Daravi. One thing was quickly apparent, the Daravi seemed listless, even leaderless; those that were captured claimed that their leader had disappeared, and his lieutenants had abandoned them too.

In Trosier and Levdis they were joined by rugged groups of Hillmen from the tribes of the Red Bear and the White Eyes respectively.

Further south, the fighting became more difficult, but no force could stand against the Lithmorran spearhead as it pushed south towards Jambellya. There, they found the city still under siege, the barons flags continuing to fly tall from the walls; the castle atop the cliffs had not yet fallen. The knights and lords fell upon the besieging army, riding them down in a fervor-driven, bloody slaughter.

By this time, word had spread to the surrounding lands of the Lithmorran arrival, and also of their strength, and as the armies prepared themselves to ride out once more, a messenger came to them. This messenger claimed to speak for the Daravi still in Montford itself, offering their unconditional surrender.

They confirmed the report that their leader, Tayiq xi Katagaris Jafaiadra, had disappeared. He, along with his closest advisors and powerful mages were last seen entering a church within the barony of Sepha-Raya. Days passed without word before their men began to question, and gathered the courage to enter. When they did, they found the inside of the building absolutely empty; yet as they looked around, they were beset by a strange sight. The walls, the floor and even the ceiling was utterly smoothe and with a sheen to it like glass; it was if the entire contents of the room had melted and set solidly. Wood, stone, gold, gems, it mattered not: all of it had melted and run together like swirls of paint, yet still vaguely recognisable as what it had been before. It didn't take long before they recognized the people trapped inside; a twisted face contorted in an eternal scream here and the beringed hand of one of the mages there. In time, they found parts of every man and woman who had entered there. Every one except for Tayiq himself, of whom there was no sign.

As Lithmore reclaimed the seat of Farin, Montford, a broader picture was painted of the Daravi forces. Those that had not surrendered had retreated, some of them scattering into the nearby hills, others making as quickly as they could for the passes of Daravi: once there, they were turned away by their own cousins. The pass guards wanted no dealings with them, and called them renegades, even though only weeks before they had gladly accepted the trains of haggard Farin men and women that were led through.

As the Daravi were rounded up in each individual territory, it did not take long before soldiers and Fariners took out their revenge, quickly executing their captured foes. In other baronies, the church acted more quickly, as Inquisitors that had ridden in the train of the armiu fell to their Holy task, leaving no Daravi under their hand unscathed. Still, the largest grouping of captives remains still, held close by the camp of the commanders, and as of yet- they remain undealt with.

Some Lithmorran and Farin soldiers, acting independently, have taken off towards the passes themselves, vowing to take the war to the Daravi. It seems as if the ancient border war between the two realms had been reignited by this latest conflict, and is not likely to cool for years yet to come.

News Trickles in from Farin

(January 24 2008)

News is beginning to arrive in Lithmore from the beleaguered Duchy of Farin from numerous mouths, mostly those of the numerous refugees come searching for protection, shelter and food. For now, the generous spirit of some Lithmorrans has seen them opening their houses with hospitality, while others take refuge at the Alms House.

What they have to say is quite varied, and at times even directly conflicting. One common thread, however, seems to be that the Daravi seem almost lazy in their warfare and sieges, not to mention that they make very little effort to chase down fleeing citizens and soldiers alike. It is as if they are under no pressure at all: or they have all the time in the world.

Many also talk of their leader, a man now identified as Tayiq xi Katagaris Jafaiadra. It is said that he wears a mask made entirely of gold with an image of seven dark rings on the brow, and that the Daravi men he leads seem devoted to him entirely.

Some also speak of those not so fortunate, those that were captured; that they have been bound as slaves and sent across the mountains to work as slaves in the mines or beds of Daravi lords.

Disaster strikes the Realm!

(January 20, 2008)

On Aprilis 10th, the Queen hosted a gathering in the palace's Hall of Kings, some of Lithmore's greatest luminaries. As they sat before their sumptuous banquet, the Queen tabled a subject for discussion; the future of relations with the Daravi. Opinions flew back and forth from an increase in trade, a strengthening of the borders or outright war; but in the end, the decision was made for them. A fast rider had arrived, traveling for over a week without rest, and was duly received to deliver his message to the Queen; it was a simple one: "Farin had fallen, the city of Montford taken suddenly and without warning."

From that moment, the hall erupted into wailing and confusion as those gathered worried about loved ones in the area or about the fate of Lithmore itself. The Queen took charge quickly, ordering the gathered nobles to send scouts across the border to find out what they could; for being armed with information was the greatest weapon Lithmore could forge herself. Word was further sent out for the armies of the realm to gather and bring themselves to the fields south of the city and from there to await further word. Upon the arrival of the Earl Marshall, a relieved Queen formally passed him the military command, with the Baron of Savir, Darvor ab Risiz as his second. As the Earl Marshall went to discuss and make council with the nobility and commanders of the knighthood, a drained-looking Queen sat in a much deserted banquet hall with several of her ladies.

Discussion fell to the future of the realm, and the servants soon took word out that a new Seneschal had been appointed to help Lithmore through what promised to be a rough time ahead: the Baroness of Hamstone, Veronica ab Lecea

Ever since, riders have been coming and going frantically from the city; no news has yet been received, but Lithmore has truly come alive in response to the threat from their ancestral foe.

An Upsurge in Faith

(January 19, 2008)

Whether it be a knee-jerk reaction to rumors of trouble to the south or a genuine, proactive renewal of faith, people are coming to the church in numbers. The pews find themselves occupied, the confessionals busy; and it isn't just with the common townsfolk. It appears that Mistress Chelestra Bordeaux of the Merchants Guild has become a regular sight within the hallowed walls of the Cathedral.

Preparations at the Royal Palace

(January 18, 2008)

Final and hurried preparations are being made at the palace for the Royal Court; the kitchens have been working all day and the entire place is bustling with activity.

Several early and curious attendants are already arriving ahead of schedule.

Royal Court; Arrangements Being Made

(January 13, 2008)

Word has gone out that Her Royal Majesty, Queen Richael ab Harmon, is to host a gathering of the nobility and other luminaries of the realm. Whispers are already going about that she intends to make some sort of announcement, although no two people seem able to agree on just what that may be.

Completion of the Halbred Dock and Millers Granary

(January 12, 2008)

Public outcry against the cost of grain largely went unserved, other than the Holy Order of Dav subsidizing the price of bread. Under the pleased approval of the Queen, the Merchants Guild has constructed a granary in Lithmore, just off the River Bren to provide easy access for all in need. Aptly named in unison with the near roads and bridge, the Millers Granary is now officially open. A cut in price is not predicted in the immediate future, but the advisors claim supply will be more manageable, and costs down the line may begin to deflate. To accompany this construction, the Halbred Dock is also opened, as to not exclude river transports from access.

Mass on Now!

(January 10, 2008)

A town crier runs through the city, bell chiming loudly as he proclaims, "Mass will be held at the Cathedral in 15 minutes. If you wish to attend, please make your way to the alter room."

Davite Primers at the Orphanage

(January 9, 2008)

While it is not widely known that Mother Verica Stoddard was put in charge of overseeing the building of the new hospital, the Priestess has announced she will be holding a dedication ceremony within the next few days that all will be invited to attend.

Perhaps more noteworthy is word that Mother Stoddard has spent much of her supervising time at the nearby Orphanage, answering questions posed by the youths currently living there. A few sheepish adults have collected to listen to the Priestess patiently explain the basic tenets of the Faith, having never learned or understood it themselves and being too embarrassed to ask.

A Wave of Vandalism

(January 8, 2008)

Citizens have been finding a number of places within the city stricken by the unjust sting of vandalism. Those areas included on the list so far are the, Chathedral, Church Square, Almshouse, Courthouse, City Hall, Bakery, First Bank, Pigeon Courier, and Grand Libary.

Sir ab Drisdorl: Missing

(January 8, 2008)

Word on the street has shifted from rumor to fact as notices have been posted throughout the city: The Knight's Master Trainer and previous Earl Marshall, Sir Alaunagh ab Drisdorl, has gone missing.

Search parties have been sent out throughout the city and into the surrounding wilderness in the hope of locating Sir ab Drisdorl. The Knights are also accepting any information regarding his last known whereabouts and any possible clue as to where he is or what might have befallen him.

Grand Opening of the Public Baths

(January 5, 2008)

After several construction delays, late fabric arrivals and miscellaneous and unforseen troubles, Lithmore's newest bath house opens its door to the public. Featuring three different bathing areas, exercise areas, a relaxing courtyard and even more enticing massage parlor, the Church-sponsored establishment caters to both the desire and needs of both mid and upper classes within the duchy. Come and see the new establishment off Flairkin Street and enjoy company, relaxation and bathing in style unrecognized by most Lithmorrans.

Grain Prices - The Holy Order Responds

(January 3, 2008)

With the rise in price of grain, the Holy Order has opened several of its warehouses where soup kitchens for the poor store the ingredients for their meals. Bakeries have had large orders and the almshouse on Park Street North receives two or three deliveries a day. Word on the street is that, if you need bread, visit the almshouse and the Holy Order will provide at subsidized prices.

When Mages attack!

(January 2, 2008)

Even now, the streets of Lithmore are rife with hushed rumours, as worried and scared members of the public spread the story of the magical attack on Church Square that had happened. Although the details seem to grow more fantastical and more elaborate with each retelling, it is clear that the ordeal a group of unfortunate citizens underwent that day was more than a mere fright.

While the streets, shocked by this momentous attack upon one of the most public places in Lithmore, rise to a point of near-panic - many a citizen begin to look toward the Holy Order and the Knights Lithmorran, wondering angrily just how long their petty squabbles will let the real mages run amok.

Unlike its usual, bustling self, the Church Square now lies nearly empty during the day as the public prudently keeps well away from the site of the magical incident.

Mother Stoddard's Challenge

(December 31, 2007)

A few men and women trickle from Saint Aelwyn's Cathedral, the words of a short and impromptu sermon by Mother Verica Stoddard still on their lips:

"The greatest gift any of us can give is spreading the word of the Lord, to those who need it.

Too often we see people scorn those of lesser status, or different backgrounds, in favor of 'their own'; a select few individuals who fit into their own mold or way of life. Regardless of social standing, we are all children of the Lord, and as such, deserve the respect of our fellow Davites. If there is nothing else we share, there is our common love for the Lord. Ignorance or skepticism shouldn't be met with contempt; a good Davite will help those who have lost their way find the Lord again by showing patience and understanding.

Today, find someone that you would not normally interact with - and talk to them about the Lord of the Springs."

---

It seems the newly ordained Priestess has issued a challenge to the faithful. Word is spreading that those who would take up this challenge are encouraged to send Mother Stoddard a letter describing who is the new person you spoke with and what aspect of the Lord's church was discussed. Details are sketchy on whether or not there will be a prize involved, or really, if there are any winners at all.

Passing

(December 29, 2007)

In the taverns of Lithmore, a new tune has surfaced, a favorite among those who sit alone, deep in their cups and their thoughts. Indeed, it is a song heard most often in the wee hours, to fill the void left by drinking and revelry, and happiness passed. While many have taken to playing and singing it, those who run in the circles of the arts in Lithmore and those in the know for other reasons are aware of its composer: Nicholas Lyonsmane, apprentice to the Poet Laudate.

And the song, a slow, low and rhythmic tune entitled 'Passing', goes something like this:

Sing it low, and sing it high: The beauty of our youth must die. And so we greet the somber sky While light and life do pass us by.

Sing it slowly, sing it soft: We must hold our hearts aloft As we face the crippling gift Of passing Time, both sweet and swift.

Sing it high, and sing it low: Sing it softly, sing it slow. Winter cries as good men go, And swathes the earth in silken snow.

Bath House Under Construction

(December 29, 2007)

Upset patrons have noted the closure of Lithmore's primary bathhouse. Officials assure it is temporary and shall be restored soon. The patrons find themselves reassured most by the reconstruction occurring, vaulting the structure into something more sizable and prestigious. When asked, the workers and administrators are pleased to divulge information of the reconstruction, sponsored and made possible by donations from the Church. Customers eagerly await, teased by the transporting of expensive fabrics and massage tables into the building.

Price of Barley and Rye

(December 29, 2007)

News has arrived to Lithmore that a large shipment of barley and rye has been lost in the Kirulean sea. Due to unseasonal storms or perhaps pirates, no one knows. What they do know is that the price of grain has increased.

Audience with the Queen; The Knights .v. The Order; Round 19

(December 29, 2007)

After several hours of deliberation between the Queen as well as Lithmore's leading knights and clergy, a decision has been made over recent troubles.

Lord Earl Marshall Alaunagh ab Drisdorl has tendered his resignation, with Crevon ab Castillius to take his place. The recently knighted Cei Sevoi is to take on the role of Grand Master, and has apparently been tasked with immediately returning patrols and guard posts to their previous stations.

Is this most recent conflict finally over?

The coming days will surely tell.

The Queen - And the Knights

(December 29, 2007)

A very angry Queen Richael has been striding through the palace trailed by an entourage of courtiers as well as assorted knights and priests.

She's said to have said, upon hearing the news of the recent actions of the Knights Lithmorran, "What do you mean knights aren't at their posts? By Dav, who is defending the kingdom? They'd better have a damned good reason for this, or I'll take the head of every man shirking his responsibilities tomorrow. I don't know if this is heresy or treason, but it IS unacceptable.

Following that, and some private councils, a flurry of messengers have gone out; not towards the city, but to the other cities, villages and hamlets of Lithmore Duchy, and even some as far south as Farin.

The Knights - And The Holy Order

(December 29, 2007)

"I, Verica Stoddard, do hereby solemnly swear to uphold the honor of the Holy Order of Dav in the Kingdom of Lithmore and all parts subservient, and to act always in the best interests of the Kingdom, the Holy Mother Church, and its Believers.

As a member of the Priesthood, I swear to uphold and defend the dignity and uncontested might of the Holy Order of Dav. I swear to serve the Lord of the Springs and His earthly delegates to the best of my ability in both public and private life, and to pursue His virtues as an integral part of my Priesthood.

On my honor as a citizen of the Kingdom of Lithmore, and in the presence of her people, by whose will and favor I here appear, do I accept the position of Priestess and official Confessor to the Knights Lithmorran, and all the rights, privileges, obligations, and responsibilities attendant thereto."

---

In direct contest of the circulating rumors, the Church made public the oaths of its newest clergymember, a solemn-faced woman of Sartez named Verica Stoddard. Mother Stoddard has already begun keeping long hours within St. Aelwyn's Cathedral, patiently answering questions and soothing the fears of those prone to listen to gossips and sensationalists, holed up in taverns with their liquid courage.

There is perhaps some truth to the rumors suggesting that Knights have abandoned their stations, as those few who could be found seemed surprised to hear that they had a Confessor directly assigned to them.

The Holy Order - And the Knights

(December 29, 2007)

Rumours run rampant through the city of the tenuous situation between the Knights and the Order. None agree on any one thing, with tales of mutiny and heresy pouring forth about both groups.

Even stranger still is the recent change in the Knights' activity. Knights are not to be found at their usual posts. Word has it that even their regular patrols have slowed to a halt. Finding a Knight in the city now has become almost impossible, and none that can be found will speak a word.

Meanwhile, the Holy Order seems to have holed themselves up. Sermons are rarely held, and those seeking out the Church of Dav are few and far between. There are whispers of changes within the Church - none of them good - and even rumours that the Grand Inquisitor is hiding in the hopes of avoiding conflict with the other Archbishops.

Blood and Bone

(December 26, 2007)

Like a wild fire, a bizarre children's game has spread on the streets of Lithmore. No two bands of grimy ragamuffins play it the same, but there is a common theme: two teams, the bloods and the bones, try to catch the 'Witch Regal' and bring him to the 'firepit', all while avoiding the deadly 'attacks' of their rivals... Sometimes, it is little more than a twisted game of tag. In the slums, though, violence is commonplace - children peg other children with their knuckles, they throw rocks and chunks of clay at each other, and sometimes, full-fledged fights break out amongst the older kids. More horrible still, there are a number of tales from angry mothers of how outcasts and loners - forced to play the role of Regal - are taken to the 'firepit' and beaten senseless, with the worst of them citing broken noses and fingers.

Always, the game is accompanied by the following rhyme, chanted over and over:

One, two, three - Red is blood and bone is ivory, Dead is Regal and his killing spree.

Four, five, six - Dead is the girl who did with fire mix, Fled is his bride with her wicked tricks.

Seven, eight, nine - Never to find sweet mercy divine, Forever to burn in fire malign.

And last comes ten - For always those demons of men Will come to haunt us, again and again.

The Royal Court Bard Travels the Duchies

(December 25, 2007)

Cecilie op Piacera, both Lithmore's Poet Knight and Royal Court Bard, has recently been reported travelling over several duchies as a regional performer. She is heard to be hosting several events for other courts for the recent Yule and New Year Celebrations. Unfortunately, most of these have not permitted her to perform publically for Lithmore itself.

Reports claim that the Poet Knight shall return well after the holidays, once her travels have come to a close.

A Bard's Song

(December 25, 2007)

Recently heard over many a tavern fire is the new Saga of Keneth Regal, sung quietly to small groups.

A beautiful man, suave and swain, None could believe the number he'd slain, Shiny blue eyes that glinted of steel, His defense claim was a rotten deal.

Silent he roamed through the night, Rumors abound of his terrible might, Flawless, his skill with a stick of wood, Hardly what you'd expect a carpenter could.

First came the book keeper. Then the student met the reaper, Numerous Knights lay dead in a ditch, All by the hands of the accused witch.

Even an inquisitor! Then he took a few visitors, whose lives were spared; could a heart so black truly have cared?

Some got away, On a lucky day, Escaped- bloody, bludgeoned and weak, The future appeared dreadfully bleak.

Those that fled, Had word to spread, From the witch's lips, ominous and suave,

"Thus is the fate of all that abide by the twisted tenets of the Order of Dav." Then at the dawn of a new year, The Justiciar, the hero we cheer, Brought the witch to an end! Disemboweled by the law, we send, Our most heinous terrorist to the Abyss to tend.

The author is rumored about, but no one has stepped up and claimed the song as their own at this time.

Night of the Living Dead

(December 25, 2007)

Word on the streets abounds about a dramatic stir at the palace. The details vary, but one thing remains constant: two grievously injured nobles, the young Heir of Volsuan and the Lady of Eastgale, are being treated in their suites after an attack in the King's Forest. The most common version of events tells of an undead creature, a grizzly bear perhaps, attacking the Lady of Eastgale while she was hunting small game, for she is in the worst condition by far. Indeed, this particular rumor speaks of Mikhail ab Volsuan's dashing rescue, where he slew the beast with little more than a kitchen knife and his bare hands... Much less common is the story that the Lady of Eastgale saved him.

Yet, there is still another spin, one that is growing rapidly in popularity: the creature was the wraith of the Witch Regal, come to seek his bloody vengeance from beyond the grave.

Reeve Disclosure Regarding the Witch, Keneth Regal

(December 25, 2007)

The Lord Justiciar Nathanial ab Lancaster made himself present for a public announcement in River Square, in front of the impaled head of Keneth Regal. He spoke first of the trials of Lithmore's people, and all of the grieving days of late. Sympathy was offered to those who had lost friends or family, and encouraging those who lost the family provider to contact him personally for assistance. He briefly recanted the story at King's Concourse, and Keneth's refusal for arrest; the witch favored combat instead. In the process of the battle, Lord Connor ab Kincayde took an injury to the head and leg, while the Justiciar barely managed to evade harm. Keneth Regal died to a cleaved gut, and passed unseemingly swiftly. Proudly, though, and with an honor to announce it, Keneth Regal is dead. Thanks were given to the faith and determination of the populace. After a long look at the head display, the Justiciar took his leave.

The End of Keneth Regal

(December 24, 2007)

Word has spread to all corners of the city of Lithmore via criers sent by the Knights Lithmorran that the mage Keneth Regal was slain on the First day of the new year. The mage was reported killed by the Justiciar with assistance from various members of the citizentry, a nobleman most notably. With the death of the mage, this signals a end to a dark time in Lithmore and prehaps the beginning of a bright new year.

The Burning

(December 24, 2007 )

During the malicious burning of Keneth Regal's daughter, Annais Regal, no fewer than seven of the Knights who remained at their posts are dead, terrible bludgeoning wounds and horrible, wide gouges on those who managed to put up a fight, and much more precise, painless strokes given to the ones who never had a chance. One Knight, who remains alive, will be crippled for the rest of his life, claiming that the demon was laughing as he beat the man down, saying he knew for a fact that it couldn't be true. Annais was safe.

The Pyre

(December 23, 2007)

A Knight was found bound to the pyre naked, his clothing scattered all about and stained with blood betraying a death prior to burning just as the sun fell below the horizon. The torches in the River Square were unlit at the time, and the Reeve set to the task was found unconscious later, stating that he has no recollection of what happened after he began his rounds. The few other witnesses to the horror tremuluously describe a black-cloaked man, or demon, with terrifying black whorls marring his face, lighting the corpse aflame with a flick of his fingers and claiming, "Thus is the fate of all those who abide by the twisted tenets of the Order of Dav."

The Party at the Bluebird is Still On!

(December 20, 2007)

Here ye, here ye! In spite of recent events, the Yule party at the Bluebird is still on and set to begin soon! Master Kaemgen ab Bretagne invites all to celebrate the holiday in the establishment's comfortable and luxurious bar area. As mentioned previously, food and beverages will be provided courtesy of the host. Freeman are welcome to attend, but should ask the guard at the door to fetch the host when they arrive, or walk in with a noble, gentry, or Troubador. It's going to a wonderful affair, so don't miss it!

End of Yule Party at the Bluebird!

(December 19, 2007)

Here ye, here ye - you are invited to a party! Master Kaemgen ab Bretagne, a recent arrival to the city, is hosting an end of Yule party at the Bluebird's Ballad. With the management's permission, the doors to the establishment will be open to all, regardless of social class! Food and beverages will be provided, courtsey of the host. Please drop by the Bluebird's Ballad on the final day of the holiday and celebrate with your fellow citizens!

Grog went back to Zadossa

(December 16, 2007)

The patrolman stops as he hears you mentioning Grog, "If you're looking for that Hager fellow, he's been seen headed to that beet farm in Zadossa.."

Flight

(December 13, 2007)

Sightings of the black-cloaked witch known as Keneth Regal have dropped off significantly. It seems he has fled the city entirely. The murders, however, have not ceased; every so often an Orderite turns up dead in an alleyway, or with their throat slit from ear-to-ear in their beds. Rumors abound that the Brotherhood of Common Goods has been turned to this vile service. Regal's last words still ring out clear: "Thus is the fate of all those who adhere to the twisted tenets of the Order of Dav."

An Obituary: Enmar Maisson

(December 12, 2007)

The urthly remains of one Enmar Maisson, book-seller and former Reeve, presently lie in the Mausoleum of St. Aelwyn's Cathedral. Any wishing to pay their last respects to the deceased might visit the body there before its removal to its final resting place. Maisson met her death at the hands of the witch Keneth Regal. She is survived by family in Vandago City. Reeve Headquarters in that city has expressed regret at the death of one who served faithfully in their ranks in times past.

A Public Announcement

(December 11, 2007)

To the citizens of Lithmore,

The Reeves have been long at work reorginizing the laws into a simplier and more useful system. As of this posting, the old laws (as noted in the old tomes) is no longer in effect. In the coming days the Reeves will be holding open meetings within the Courthouse in the Main Courtroom to help answer any questions and inquires about the new system. Should you have personal questions, please direct them to Prefect Fintan ab Rais, or Prefect Tomas Legate.

A Flood of Rats?

(December 11, 2007)

The populace has been crying out about the sudden increase in rats. Rumors are abound; many claim them to be the work of the heretic mage, Keneth Regal, whilst others claim they're pouring up out of the sewers due to even more sinister reasons. Even stranger still are the reports of slain rats getting back up as undead vermin and scaring innocent women and children.

A Fallen

(December 8, 2007)

Dozens filled the River Square today for the burning of a most unexpected individual: Diplomat Zanthia a'Laon.

Beyond the shock of seeing her nude and tied to a pole, the crowd uttered and awed as the Grand Inquisitor announced she was a member of the Brotherhood of Common Goods, and heretic. Some in the crowd wondered how a woman so tragically beautiful harbored a dark core. Some even claimed she was Tenebrae, the dark leader of the Brotherhood, though that was not officially announced at her departure from this world.

Those with some history in Lithmore remarked back, how she had been a stellar Reeve with a bright future, only to have it shattered due to a dark love- a fallen angel, some said, as her career with the Reeves faltered and her darker side began.

Those paying close attention could have noted her frantically trying to communicate past a gag to Nathanial Lancaster, Justiciar. Why remains unknown. She reportedly was responsible for the escape of suspected mage Keneth Regal just days prior.

Brilliant legal mind, epic negotiator, or heinous criminal? Few know the truth, if any. All that remains is her memory for citizens to recall, reminisce, and ponder.

Party at the Bear and Boar

(November 23, 2007)

A young crier calls through the streets, with a jovial tone, "Here ye, hear ye.... There is to be a gathering in the Bear and Boar. The occasion has not be determined but all are invited. Please, come a long and celebrate with all, partake of some ale, enjoy the mead. This event will commence immediately." And off he trots again to call his message to the masses.

The Gentry Acquire Sumptuary Rights

(November 18, 2007)

As the Gentry become a recognized social class, the sumptuary laws have adjusted to accommodate this. The changes shall take effect immediately, though the enforcement will be staggered. Anyone breaking the sumptuary law shall be given a warning to remove said item, and if caught again they will receive the proper fines. By Augustus 15th 307, the laws will be in full effect, and any persons breaking them will be properly handled. For details on the sumptuary laws, contact your local Reeves.

(OOC: help sumptuary has been updated to reflect this change).

A Name for the Heir

(November 13, 2007)

Word has come from the Royal Palace that the Queen has finally given name to the heir of the realm. She is rumored to have said, "I have chosen the name Caterana in honor of my late, paternal grandmother. Without a doubt, she was the most famous woman Lithmore has produced, and her achievements have already gone down in the annals of our kingdom. For my daughter, I hope that she too can found her own legacy in her day." This was spoken after spending some hours in the presence of the kingdom's highest officers of the Church, wherein the young heir was dedicated to the service of the Lord of the Springs and the name given in ceremonial circumstances. Word has it that her full name is 'Caterana Adeline ab Harmon de Montford, ' with both Caterana and Adeline being names suggested at the recent celebration for the birth.

Along with this, some changes were made to the makeup of the Royal Council, to better reflect the nature of Lithmorran politics in recent years. The Grand Inquisitor now takes the seat of the former Cardinal of Lithmore, after said position was made defunct by King Iain after the resignation of Cardinal Salicus.

Royal Announcement: The Gentry are now a recognised social class.

(November 12, 2007)

On this day, Quintilis 13 in the year of Our Lord 307, Her Majesty, Queen Richael ab Harmon le Fontaine, has declared the following:

Those citizens who have no hereditary titles, but receive a minimum income
of 2000 silver per year, with no labor to their hands as well as knights,
the ordained clergy and the second (and later) children of titled nobles,
shall hence forth be officially recognized as Gentry. Additionally as part
of this recognition, the gentry are now permitted some of the lesser rights
of the nobility, such as limited sumptuary and the use of ab as a prefix to
their family name. Finally, they are also permitted to marry the nobility
with a writ from the Crown.

The Heir's Birthday!

(November 10, 2007)

A town crier dressed in the Royal Family's colors announces, "Hear ye, hear ye! Her Majesty the Queen has proclaimed a birthing-day celebration at the Event Ballroom of the Town Hall tonight! Come one, come all!"

Citizens of all ages, genders and status are being bidded to come see the new heir in her birthing-day celebration. It has been opened to the public, an unprecedented event in the history of Lithmore!

Event is happening now! Come when you can!

(update) the celebration was attended by not just the Queen but the future heir herself. The guests were given their first glimpse of a dark-haired, blue-green-eyed baby. As a surprise they were asked to provide suggestions for the name of the baby. More than a handful were given, and some speculate (while some wager, with five gold) that Caterana or Katherine will be the future Princess's name.

Word from the Royal Palace

(November 7, 2007)

A proclamation from the Queen of Lithmore:

Criers are hurrying around the city and throughout the kingdom, spreading the following message,

"Hear ye, hear ye, all citizens of Lithmore!

Her Majesty, Queen Richael ab Harmon le'Fontaine has given the realm a new heir, a baby daughter. Mother and child are reportedly both in fine health and recovering well from the labor.

In honor of this, she has announced a period of celebration throughout the kingdom; and of particular note to the residents of the realm's premier city, she has made a historical proclamation. From this day forth, all those that currently reside within the city and that were born of peasant stock may now consider themselves free and emancipated from their former lords and masters. Their lords shall be reimbursed for the loss of service, directly from the royal treasuries."

Various lords were later heard to qualify this statement, and reinforce the fact that peasants that weren't inside the city at the time are still very much beholden to the land.

The name of the kingdom's heir is as yet unknown, but there is some talk that the Queen will make the announcement at the forthcoming ceremony to devote the newborn to the lifelong service of Dav.

An Inquisitor Leaves the Holy Order - The Order's Response

(November 6, 2007)

When questions reached the Inquisitorial offices regarding the resignation of Caria ab Trenica, the Holy Order stated that Miss ab Trenica was, "... stripped of Inquisitorial ring and cloak for attempting to overturn a warrant penned by the Grand Inquisitor. After that, she chose herself to resign."

The Holy Order went on to cite that Miss ab Trenica had previously been warned twice, once for issuing a warrant without jurisdiction, which had resulted in a previous temporary expulsion, and another time for attempting to circumvent proper procedures by approaching the Queen of Lithmore instead of the Synod over the issue of restoring the office of Cardinal of Lithmore.

"The truth of the matter is that Miss ab Trenica could not see eye-to-eye with her superiors, and her impatience often drove her to decisions they found questionable," The Grand Inquisitor is quoted to have said.

A Inquisitor Leaves the Order

(November 6, 2007)

On the late evening of the 22nd of June, Inquisitor Caria ab Trenica renounced her vows and turned in her Inquisitoral Signet and Order Seal to the Grand Inquisitor. Those around her cite unreconcilable differences in actions and internal orders within the Church as her reason for leaving. Others say that she was dishonorably defrocked although those whom ask the Church will be told that Caria ab Trenica renounced her vows voluntarily.

Whispers of Change

(November 1, 2007)

Whispers of change ride upon the wind as gossip is abounds with changes within the Knights Lithmorran. It would seem that Grand Master Alaunagh Drisdorl has been promoted to Earl Marshall, and the Knights will soon appoint a new Grand Master to fill the open position. It is currently unclear as to what happened to Dame Giorella ab Sidharr, and at this point it is anyone's guess.

A Seaworthy Celebration

Date  : Fri Oct 26 17:22:13 2007

Another celebration! Lithmorrans on the streets perk their ears eagerly and spread the current gossip amongst their friends. Apparently that ship at the docks belongs to Justiciar Nathanial Lancaster, or as known more commonly among the crew, Captain Half-Hand. There is to be a grand ceremony for the vessel, marking it officially as a local ship. While it will not be taking its maiden voyage this time, rumors claim it won't be long. The event, though, has people more curious than the voyage. Entertainment will be provided, food and drink will be served generously, all ingredients of which are imported from Vavard and Tubor and cooked together by gourmet chefs. All guests are welcomed and encouraged to come. An official date has not been mentioned, only sometime near the end of the week, or the following week.

Missing Knight!

(October 26, 2007)

After missing numerous meetings and appointments in the course of a couple days, those within the Knight's Keep and without have been inquiring into the whereabouts of the Earl Marshall. Page and noble alike seem unable to account for her absence and patrols seem to be more frequent and uneasy.

The Ducal Banners return to Vavard City

(October 24, 2007)

After many months of speculation and a very closed-off city, word has finally arrived from Vavard that Eachan dul Acris has returned to the merchant city, although he has not come alone. With a single stroke, the return of their chubby young Lord, the quarreling factions have laid down their arms- not least because he was accompanied by fully three of the largest tribes of the Charali. News is still scarce at this time of what this means for Vavard, but there is no doubting that several young Charali 'maidens' often disappears to Eachan's private rooms for hours on end.

Word on his official coronation has not been made yet; and there are doubtless many of the city's movers and shakers vying for attention from the soon-to-be-Duke. Still, not all arriving word is good, and while there is little ire for Eachan himself, some deep rivalries were made in the city during the last few lawless months and a vendetta is not so swiftly forgotten. On a similar matter, little has been heard from the surviving children of Tirella dul Efsteyn since her death.

Inn

(October 17, 2007)

Accompanied by many hushed tones and whispers as the cursed establishment makes itself known once more, the following notice is now ubiquitous in the streets:

After much trial, we are proud to announce:

The Penitent Way Inn is now open once more!

Patrons are invited to partake in dining and drinking at the new inn, which has been closed since its original opening night on during the New Year celebrations. No sign of taint has been observed by the Holy Order within the establishment and the unfortunate happenings in the past are attributed to the workings of a mage.

The inn is clear of evil once more and all are encouraged to enjoy its luxurious experience, commoner and noble alike.

Guests are also reminded that the competition to name the inn still stands and all suggestion entries should be submitted to Miss Tasha Dovell promptly. There is no limit on number of entries per person. The winner will be announced at an upcoming event and shall be eligible for an all-expenses-paid meal for themselves and friends in the particular sitting room reserved otherwise for nobility.

Spring Awakening

(October 12, 2007)

Rumor has it that a prisoner has been shipped, bound and gagged, all the way from Vavard for the Votumas Bonfire. The identity of the heretic or mage has been kept tightly under wraps, carried from the docks in a lacquered oaken box. Meanwhile, the Chalice Rising festival has truly come under swing with celebrants partying in the streets and the church giving away chalice-marked loaves of bread to the poor. At night, the streets are lit by windows glowing Davite Candles, and on its last night just yet to pass with families declaring the oaths to the church.

Clemency for the Spring Awakening Festival

(October 11, 2007)

Throughout the city posters from the Reeves are easily accessible, offering a list of the two criminals for the Spring Awakening Festival - one of which shall be granted clemency. Justice wants you to decide who is released! In order to cast your vote, please mail the Justiciar Nathanial Lancaster and include your name and the man you wish to see released.

The two criminals available for receiving clemency: Poedisis - A soothsayer and astronomer who allegedly read signs displayed by the Lord. He poisoned the river when the sky told him to. Berras Hiken - A merchant who swindled and stole from his customers, using appraisals and fittings to mark and consider his victims.

The runner-ups, who have lost the opportunity, are the following:

  • Eradasis Fletch - A poor peasant who robbed a middle-aged man in the Foreign District for his coin. No injuries beyond a few bruises

and scratches.

  • Laef Irekson - A scholar who wanted to raise his status, and did so by stealing the wealth of his highest rival and claiming

it as his own.

  • Wendlan Bould - A novice student who murdered another man when he was caught sleeping with the man's girlfriend, in self-defense.

Chalice Rising & Spring Awakening Festival

(October 7, 2007)

Preparations and imports of wine for the Wine Festival have begun and Davite Candles are once more sold in the general store and chandler's. Meat merchants have closed their doors, and everyone waits with excitement for the Reeves to post the lists of criminals, one of which may be granted clemency, for betting.

The Holy Order of Dav has this year ordered River Square swept and cleared for the event, and rumor has it that a real mage shall be cleansed with the Votumas Bonfire instead of a straw mannequin.

The Security Lockers

(October 5, 2007)

Rumors have been confirmed that the bank's deposit vaults have been tampered with. Recently, the Holy Order sealed off the lockers and repainted them, presumably to wipe away magical markings left by some demonist.

News from Vavard and the Charali Plains

(October 1, 2007)

It seems that the brief calm in Vavard was similar to that within the eye of a storm. Just as things were beginning to return to normal, the Ducal Regent has been executed. Details are sketchy at this stage, but it seems that her captors have had her executed for treason- although under the laws of the Duchy, and indeed the Kingdom as a whole, a trial should have been held for anyone of such noble birth. There is also the question of the legitimacy of those that declared the sentence, in short, they had none, but the execution was held quickly and in the early hours, when there were few witnesses.

The accusations levelled against her were heavy; including that she was responsible for hiring the assassin herself, and that the man that she had had killed was little more than a scapegoat. The man who truly attempted to commit the act came out of hiding a week after the Regent herself had been put under arms. He was executed alongside her, and word has it that he was a member of the distinguished dul Vintria family who are widely known as being deep within the Regent's pockets.

However, Tirella had many supporters, and her captivity was the one thing keeping the streets from erupting back into violence, which they have, and with gusto. Early reports bring word that four people have died; one elderly patriarch of a merchant family, an apprentice silk-tailor, as well as a Reeve and his new bride.

A number of wealthy Vavard City citizens are unsurprisingly choosing to leave the city for a winter holiday on their estates or in the cities of Lithmore and Vandago.

However, other news is also coming from that part of the realm. Rumors are beginning to flow thick and steady that the Duke has found safety amongst one of the Charali tribes, known as the Oestarook. Every report seems to have him in good health and a number suggest some overly extensive (and loud) intimacy with more than one female member of the tribe.

September 2007

The Arrival of a New Vessel at the Docks

(September 29, 2007)

Larkin Pier bustles with news which is quick to travel through the city. A new ship has docked! Visible at the helm was Justiciar Nathanial "Half-Hand" Lancaster, properly outfitted for sea-faring voyages. "The Sea's Flame," the rumors say. The Justiciar has now and finally claimed the title of Captain, and some say they haven't seen the man so lively in years. The intent seems to be to keep the ship nearby and ported the majority of the time, offering a lounge for friends and crew.

The Messengers First Issue!

(September 29, 2007) Advertisements are being posted about the city, and word is spreading that The Messenger, a long-defunct publication of Lithmorran current events, has been taken over by the unrepentantly foreign (Vavardi) Arienne Blackmoore (nee Venois).

The Lady Blackmoore is offering up to 10 silver for articles submitted for the paper, and details can be found on the posted advertisements.

The first issue is out! Copies of the newsletter script are available in The Messenger office, as well as the Town Hall. A New Heir

(September 16, 2007)

Even as Yule approaches and the Vavardi tragedy resonates across the Five Duchies, joyous messengers trample their way through the harsh winter snows with wide grins on their faces - all bearing the same news.

"An heir! An heir will be born! Her Majesty the Queen is with child!"

Thus, even in the more desolate and winter-ravaged parts of the countryside, there is heard rejoicing even through the frost and hunger at what little good news seems to befall them this year.

Blackmoore on Holiday

(September 16, 2007)

A small procession was observed departing from Lithmore's palace, one early morning in late Novembris. Inquiries made with a servant in Blackmoore's white and gold livery confirmed that the Baron was headed home to Casterlay, to introduce the people to their new Baroness.

While the servant only spoke excitedly about the lavish reception promised to Arienne Blackmoore, there are other, somewhat more solemn reports beginning to circulate; rumor has it that Lord Blackmoore has resigned as Earl Marshall!

Citizens awaiting confirmation of this resignation pass the time speculating on the reason for his sudden departure from Lithmore. Some say that Lorne Blackmoore simply wishes to concentrate on his new family. Others who are more familiar with the Baron, suspicious of such a domestic scene, insist he has returned home to rally his troops - but for what?

Perhaps he will travel as an ambassador to Vavard with his native wife, to help keep the uneasy peace there. Perhaps he and the former Grand Magnate will tour the realms, combining military and monetary might to secure regular prices on traditionally Vavardi imports. Or perhaps the Blackmoore curse has finally appointed another Mad Baron.

Wedding to be held in the Lithmorran Cathedral

(September 14, 2007)

Word is quickly spreading through the city of the impending wedding of Doctor Jaafs Preston and Lady Amalia op Hanley within several hours. The period required by the banns and tradition has passed, and having finally settled on a priest, the wedding is imminent.

All those wishing to attend are encouraged to arrive at the Cathedral of St. Aelwyn in several hours time.

A Winter Rebellion

(September 14, 2007)

The word "rebellion" is quick to spark the attention of the Reeves, and the winter of 306 proves no exception. Low food stocks and some of the lower classes raise up, while the nobility dines on gourmet meats and expensive wines. The matter carried on, and the Reeves examined quickly and closely. Late last night on the 22nd, a sizable force extracted the members of the rebellion from their homes and dragged them out to the fields northeast of town. After a round of interrogations to get any last names, the men and few women were handled. Through the endless blizzards the Reeves persevered to see their job done. The rebels were hanged by nooses from the branches of trees; by the end of the night, their shoeless feet hovered not far above the snowy grounds. To ensure the message is sent to the remaining rebels, buckets of water were brought to toss the water onto bodies, allowing the frigid temperatures to freeze the bodies solid. The Reeves expect to get an accurate count of the conspirators once the snow melts.

News from Vavard: Regent Under Arms, Duke Still Missing

(September 14, 2007)

News continues to filter in from Vavard.

Over the past week, Vavard has been descending ever more towards anarchy. Angry bands of young nobles and scions of rich merchant families have been gathering together and declaring for their young Duke. They claim all manner of things; from the assassination being used as a cover for Charali kidnappers to take him, that he is being held secretly by the Regent or that he has been press-ganged into a galley crew. These bands have been frequently clashing with the knights and Reeves in the employ of the Duke and there have now been more than a few deaths on both sides.

It all came to a head on the morning of November 19, when one large group, led by Aprionus dul Morgnus, stormed the Ducal palace and seized the regent during the middle of a tryst with her latest lover- the Proconsul of the Vavardi Reeves. With the pair secured under arms and the city in the uneasy control of the Duke's 'supporters', Vavard City has slowly begun to regain an uneasy regain an uneasy peace.

However, the Duke is still nowhere to be found and a return to conflict simmers very close beneath the surface.

Political Uncertainty in Vavard Impacts Economy

(September 10, 2007)

Sources from Vavard confirm that production has declined significantly, due to the attempted assassination and subsequent disapperance of His Grace Eachan dul Acris reported early Novembris, SC 306.

A young merchant (who wishes to remain unnamed) claims that with the uncertainty of Vavard's future, most of the guild members are uneasy to continue with their work. "It's not business as usual here in the city," he says, "Who knows what's in store for us next?"

He goes on to explain that "It's expected that people - merchants and buyers alike - are unwilling to spend as much as they usually do. They'd rather save. That part is not so expected of Vavardians."

Early reports substantiate his words, indicating a decrease in production that impacted exports the most, specifically silks, precious gems, dry wines, fine glass, and luxury items. Demand within the duchy for these goods have also gone down as shown by slightly lower profits in these sectors.

Meanwhile, the head of the Vavardi merchants declined to confirm the anonymous source's claims, only stating that, "Political tension naturally has effects on the economy, as was the case during the civil war; however we are optimistic that things will return to normal very soon."

No statement has been released as of yet by the Grand Magnate in response to this issue.

Murder and Mage Put to Justice

(September 10, 2007)

Many gathered at River Square to witness the hanging of convicted murderer Vallen Helvirahel. What they did not expect was the grinning miscreant's own admission to being a mage!

With the Grand Master keeping vigilant watch, Doctor Jaafs Preston set the newly deceased Vallen on fire with only torch and parchment, but the body quickly ignited. Many who witnessed the event insist that the sudden blaze must have been big enough to be seen off the shore of Sartez.

The body was cremated without blessing, the ashes collected for proper disposal - Vallen's soul was not cleansed of its grievous sins.

News From Vavard: Would-be Assassin Caught!

(September 10, 2007)

Further news from Vavard!

Knights in the employ of the Ducal Regency have uncovered the would-be assassin of the Duke, cowering in the hull of a ship that was due to set sail for the Vandagan coast. His execution was summary, and his head displayed high above the grand port-gate of the city.

However, not all news is as good, as whispers begin to escape the city that the Duke is still missing, although the Regent herself has made no official comment on the matter. Unease is said to be steadily rising, especially amongst the young merchants and the sons of the nobility.

Sermons

(September 7, 2007)

Across the City of Lithmore, sermons have recently begun to carry a more and more unified message: Women wearing the clothing of men are sinners!

Depending on which church a man or woman takes their mass, a woman wearing pants exhibits sins all the way from impurity to denying one's station. The church has decried such women as prostitutes, thieves, want-to-be Charali savages, and simply ashamed of being women.

Confusion at the Coronation Ball

(September 7, 2007)

News has arrived in Lithmore, borne on the fastest trading vessels from the merchant city of Vavard. At the masquerade ball held to celebrate the seventeenth birthday of Eachan dul Acris, tragedy has struck. A man dressed as a leering silver wolf attempted to assassinate the young Duke. The entire hall erupted in a series of shouts and confusion, and the status of the Duke is still unknown, although his Regent, Tirella dul Efsteyn, has marshalled the guards to search for the silver wolf and secure the city.

It remains to be seen if the official ceremony of re-coronation for tomorrow will still be held. The ceremony would mark the ending of the regency, and the young Duke coming into his own.

The news is spreading around Lithmore, especially amongst the merchants and artisans with family or business interests in Vavard.

A Town Crier Passes By

(August 24, 2007)

A town crier passes by, calling, "You are requested to witness a formal challenge issued by Lady Arienne Venois to the Earl Marshall, Lorne Blackmoore, at the Osternvale Tourney Grounds. (OOC: travel osternvale from the bank/bluebird area should get you there)."

...It seems that Arienne Venois has pressed Lorne Blackmoore to complete a series of challenges in order to have her hand in marriage! The first challenge, to "find the good in all things," found the Baron and witnesses-turned-assistants trudging through a drizzly Lithmore in search of hidden clues. That's one down, three to go.

Update: Blackmoore's second task was to hit the bull's eye of an archery target. But a challenger from the crowd made it a proper competition, with each archer given six arrows. The rounds began even, with both men scoring within the red for 47 points each. More details, such as who won, would likely be available from the Baron himself or his challenger, Nokone Heath.

The Messenger Returned to Lithmore

(August 15, 2007)

Advertisements are being posted about the city, and word is spreading that The Messenger, a long-defunct publication of Lithmorran current events, has been taken over by the unrepentantly foreign (Vavardi) Arienne Venois.

The Lady Venois is offering up to 10 silver for articles submitted for the paper, and details can be found on the posted advertisements.

Brayston Fealty to the Crown

(August 15, 2007)

Nearly one year later, the banners of Brayston finally make their way into Lithmore once more. Morten leading mounted upon a lean stallion found his way to the Castle, and after a private audience with the Queen, returned, somber. After a long and silent cease of combat, Morten has personally sworn fealty to Queen Richael, hoping to spare his peoples any recourse, as well as a cure for the plague. Banners raised for the Crown of Lithmore, Morten and his wife currently make residence in the capital itself, leaving numerous children -- and a grave -- in his home at Brayston. Some say this is a token of his good will in the matter. Rumors spread of an invincible heart and dedication, recounting the tales of valiant Brayston men and honoring the memories of the few casualties. Despite fighting so fiercely against the Loyalists, a complete yielding to the Crown has come quite smoothly.

The End of the Hospital

(August 13, 2007)

With a crowd of on-lookers and a large force of Knights and Order Priests, with Mother Caria ab Trenica presiding, the Hospital was burned down. With a bastion of goodness and public order now eroded, the city is in confusion as to where their healthcare will come from now, but Mother ab Trenica and Lord Blackmoore were cited as saying that they intend to make sure the hospital is rebuilt... The question is now...

Will it?

Movement About the Hospital

(August 10, 2007)

Several cartloads of books, stores, and personal affects have been seen moving off from the Royal Lithmorran Hospital, the work overseen by knights and their squires. While it has not been openly stated, there's nothing to deny the rumor that the hospital is going to be burned down.

Physicians and Knights

(August 9, 2007)

With the release of the physicians and the eerily timed reported uprising of the undead, when the fully trained hospital staff have been sighted, it is often with a knight escort. The Keep lies nearly empty, containing only a skeleton crew while the rest have poured into the streets. The Grand Master, in the Earl Marshall's absence, has stated that the knights support the physicians in their work to combat the plague, pathogenic, undead, or otherwise, in any way they are able to, with the, she stresses, continued and full support of the Holy Order. She has also stated that the well-known Preston is alive and well, doing what he can.

Physicians

(August 9, 2007)

The Holy Order of Dav has released most of the physicians taken in for questioning. Rumor has it that those released were given a token of some sorts and have sworn allegiance to the church. Of the others, no word has been given, but rumors abound that they remain locked away in Ahalin Tower.

The Plague and Undeath

(August 9, 2007)

Townsfolk are scared out of their wits as the deceased have begun rising once again. The corpses of rats, deer and even bears are propelled by some devilish force, many people claim it to be the plague, while reports of incidents crop up all over the city.

Whence Goes The Earl Marshall?

(August 8, 2007)

Formerly a common sight in Lithmore, the Earl Marshall of the Knights Lithmorran, Lorne Blackmoore, has become quite scarce as of late. Rumors put him in Casterlay, or the Farin frontier, or Vavard in the sweet embrace of the regent there, but the exact truth is not commonly known.

News of the Hospital

(August 7, 2007)

Balasdes, June 22;

Patients streamed across the city today, headed for the Almshouse and the church. When questioned, they all had the same tale to tell.

The plague has hit the hospital, and anyone not hit was immediately sent away. The Hospital has been closed up tight and locked to the public as the dead and dying already began to pile up when the doors were finally closed. Jaafs Preston was onsite, overseeing the proceedings, and word has come down that he was well into the illness by the time the evacuation was complete. The Hospital has been eerily silent since, the only sound coming from within the occasional faint moan of the dying.
